Ivan Granados is an Attorney and Notary Public who specializes in Real Estate, Corporate & Tax Law. He also provides legal counsel and advisory for Intellectual Property, Immigration (Residences applications) and Nearshoring matters in Costa Rica. A majority of his clients are business builders and a great number of them are foreign investors including private individuals, companies and enterprises, which require legal advisory.
In 1999, Mr. Granados obtained his law degree at the Autonomous University of Central America (UACA) in San Jose, Costa Rica. He graduated Summa Cum Laude, and during that same year he was appointed Notary Public by the Supreme Court of Costa Rica. He holds a Minor in Economics, awarded also by the Autonomous University of Central America (UACA).
In 2008, Mr. Granados was awarded a dual Master’s degree (LL.M) in Tax and Business Law from the University of International Cooperation (UCI), San Jose, Costa Rica. Mr. Granados is also a Conciliator, diploma awarded by Ulacit University and the Minister of Justice and Peace for completing 80 hours of extensive coursework.
Professionally, Mr. Granados has worked in both the public and private sectors. He began his career by holding legal advisory positions within the Costa Rican Government including: the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court of Costa Rica; the Parliament of Costa Rica; Minister of Justice; INS (National Insurance Company), among other institutions. As a guest lecturer, Mr. Granados has spoken at seminars, meetings, and consortiums internationally representing UACA University, as well as the Government of Costa Rica.
In 2004, Mr. Granados entered private practice at GM Attorneys, a distinguished Boutique Law Firm, which for over three decades has provided counsel and personalised services for a broad range of legal parameters with the highest ethical and professional quality standards.
Since 2014 both Mr. Granados and GM Attorneys have been honored as “Lawyer of the Year”, “Law Firm of the Year”, and also profiled as “Costa Rica - Corporate & Real Estate Expert” by ACQ5 and Global Law Experts (GLE) among other top legal directories and specialized websites and magazines.
